Grossi’s bar Arlechin is a place where you can have a drink and get some quality food in the late hours of the night. The lighting is dark and the atmosphere has a sleek and sexy feel and the food reminds me of tapas style dishes but Italian flavours. They have a robust bar and wine selection and it opens at 5pm just in time for after work drinks and closes at 3am so you can have some ‘midnight spaghetti’ after a few. We’re talking bolognese jaffles, bone-marrow risoni and baccala sloppy joes to name a few. Total comfort food that’s super delicious with the Grossi touch, that you can eat in the wee hours of the morning.
This was some of the street art on the walls in lead up to the bar.
The bolognese jaffle was probably the best one I’ve had. It had buttery crisp toasted bread with an intense and rich Bolognese inside and a generous shaving of parmesan over the top.
The baccala sloppy joe had the baccala mixed through a creamy mayo and paired with pieces of warm charred leek. All of this encased in a fresh buttery brioche bun. Absolutely divine.
Midnight spaghetti is even more fun when you can actually eat it at midnight. The spaghetti is cooked aldente and is dressed with a light Napoli sauce with capers and anchiovy oil. So good.
We had the doughnut for something sweet which was filled with custard, covered in fairy floss and alchermes (Italian liquor) and set on fire. The waitress lit the fairy floss into flames in front of us and in the dark lit room it looked sensational. Eating the actual doughnut after the theatrical display was just as wonderful.
I heart Arlechin!
