If you’re passing through Blackburn and need a place to brunch, Aunt Billies you covered. Their dishes are prettily presented and flavourful, made with quality ingredients.
It has a nice outdoor area that is perfect for spring and even more perfect if you're bringing your pup along.
The coffee was cute, I liked it beary much.
If mushrooms are your thing, you will love the mixed mushroom ragu which was a variety of mushrooms slow cooked and paired with sauteed spinach, caramelised shallots, goats curd, truffle oil and a poached egg on multigrain toast. Filling and full of flavour.
The mixed grain salad looked like something out of alice in wonderland with the long curvy heirloom carrots. The black rice was cooked aldente and the cauliflower had a beautiful roasted char flavour. It had cubes of sweet potato, pepitas, pops of pomegranate, smoked almonds, kale, pesto, a poached egg and smoked salmon. Healthy and delicious.
I loved the yoghurt and ginger panna cotta, it was smooth and had a good wobble. It had a soft ginger flavour and a subtle tartness from the yoghurt and was super light and creamy. The poached pear was infused with chai spices, the big pieces of dried apricot added sweetness and the almond granola was a good crunch element.
A great place to brunch in Blackburn.
I heart Aunt Billies Café!
