Bahari is a Greek restaurant in Richmond created by Philip Vakos who was an ex contestant on masterchef. The food is humble, honest and absolutely delicious. I love when you can go out to a restaurant and feel like you’re eating a real home cooked meal.
The trio of dips with warm pita bread was a must. Taramasalata, tzatziki and smoky eggplant was the trio, all amazing.
Halloumi cigars were next on our list, they were a special. Halloumi wrapped in filo pastry drizzled with honey, i mean how could you go wrong with these.
The pork jowl croquettes had a lovely crumb and the meat melted in your mouth. The rich flavour and a squeeze of lemon on top balanced them perfectly.
The octopus looked so pretty with the colourful flowers. It was char-grilled, soft and tender with ouzo, lemon, oregano and edible flowers.
Loved the moussaka, it was baked in a little dish and was packed with flavour. The meat melted in your mouth and the potato was soft and fluffy. Perfect winter warmer.
The slow roasted lamb shoulder with lemon, rosemary and garlic was the definition of a home cooked dish. Lots of flavour and lots of love.
The Bahari baklava had orange blossom pistachio, walnuts, honey and cinnamon and was sweet but not too sweet which was good.
The halva icecream was a winner, it had a lovely sesame flavour which was light and refreshing.
I heart Bahari!
