Belleville recently had a revamp and the new menu is seasonal with a focus on local produce. They still have thier rockin’ rotiserrie chicken and killer poutine but they now also have some other stand out dishes like the O’connor porterhouse steak and the Tasmanian salmon. Belleville has always been a bit rustic, arty and down-to-earth and it’s still all of those things. It's a place for good vibes, great music and really delicious food.
A great place for after work drinks and a bite to eat.
The croquettes were filled with shredded Gippsland rabbit meat and chorizo. The gamy meat and fatty spiced sausage worked well together with the golden crunchy crumb.
The duck ham was cut thin and served like a carpaccio with spots of taleggio cream, pickled blackberry with crisp sourdough toasts.
Here it is with a little bit of everything on one of the toasts. Sweet, savoury, creamy, crispy, delicious.
The Tasmanian salmon was tasty and had pan seared edges with crispy deep-fried salmon skin on top. It came with a beautiful cauliflower salad with plump sweet golden raisins which was a great compliment to the salmon alongside the citrus beurre blanc and gravy.
The rotisserie free range chicken was incredibly tender and the skin was beautifully charred and basted with miso butter. The roast chicken jus is next level and the chilli sauce was super hot (kinda like a really hot tabasco sauce) which was awesome.
I loved the charred greens. There was char-grilled Chinese broccoli and kale two-ways. There was crispy kale and then there was long pieces of cooked kale that you could swirl up onto your fork like spaghetti. There was a generous amount of grated pecorino on top. Amazing.
The baked sweet potato was soft and delicately cooked, it was sweet, moist and it was easy to cut through. It had melted cheese, sour cream and chives on top – good combination.
For dessert we had the triple choc and pretzel cookies with a vanilla malt shake which you can booze up with Buffalo Trace bourbon. The cookies are baked to order so allow 15 minutes and it’s totally worth the wait. Warm, soft, brownie like cookies with melted chocolate. The perfect end to our meal.
I heart Belleville!
