Bimbos holds a special place in my heart because it was genuinely the first restaurant I ever went to that blew my mind with a great atmosphere and creativity at its core. My brother introduced me to it over a decade ago. A place where you can sit in an igloo with your friends and eat pizza for $4. Not to mention chocolate pizza before it was a thing and flavoured vodkas sitting in massive bulbs with curly tubes leading to the spout. Pacman and old skool games as tables, records on the wall, high heels on the ceiling and old second-hand couches where you often share a lounge with strangers. Fast forward 15 years and it still exists but has a whole new face. It still has the good vibes and character, I mean, there’s half an aeroplane in the middle of the room.
They have sides and tinnies available which they didn’t have before. We tried the karaage chicken which were nice little chicken bites.
We tried one of the new pizzas, the ceasar which was, as the name suggests, Caesar salad on a pizza. It had chicken, bacon, parmesan, lettuce and Caesar sauce. It was actually really tasty, who knew lettuce on pizza would work.
We also tried one of the old pizzas, the margarita which is always a classic.
Lastly we had the chocolate Turkish delight pizza for dessert. It was Nutella pizza with chunks of Turkish delight. Yum.
I heart Bimbo Deluxe!
