Brooklyn depot is where you can go to fulfil all of your American food dreams. They’ve got that Old Brooklyn feel with burgers, hotdogs, chicken wings, ribs, waffles, prawn tacos, grilled cheese, you name it. Lots of deep-fried and lots of flavour.
They have a range of tasty cocktails. My tea-infused gin came in a teapot. Too cute.
In all American style we had to have a milkshake. The cookie monster was like a milk and cookies shake with a choc chip cookies to garnish.
They make some great burgers and have a long list to choose from. They range from classic beef to bbq chicken to slow-cooked pork belly. They have vegetarian options like the crumbed potabello mushroom or sweet potato and chickpea burger.
The corn-beef hash spring rolls were delicious. It was shredded corn beef with onions and potato hash rolled up in a spring roll wrapper and deep-fried. Super tasty.
The cheeseburger empanadas taste like little cheeseburgers wrapped in pastry. They were filled with beef and cheese with tomato sauce, mustard and pickles on top. So good.
Chicken and waffles is an American classic but Brooklyn Depot’s version has sweet red velvet Hong Kong waffles (those light bubbly waffles) which look great and was topped with crispy Southern fried chicken that had a good crunch and was juicy in the middle.
The Philly steak was a soft roll filled with slices of tender beef.
The lobster mac and cheese had a generous amount of lobster so you could still taste it in amongst the three cheese sauce. It was baked with a crunchy gremolata breadcrumb over the top and was full of flavour.
The shrimp and grits tacos had cheesy polenta topped with crispy paprika prawns encased in deep fried tortillas. The tortillas were light and bubbled up when fried which was a great idea.
The French toast grilled cheese was a play on sweet and savoury. The thick French toast was filled with melted cheese and we poured the maple syrup over the top. The raspberries on the side were tart which was nice to help cut through the intensity. You can add hickory smoked bacon if you so choose.
For dessert we had the caramel pecan chocolate brownie. The brownie was straight outta the oven and still warm. It had a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top with crushed pecans and a drizzle of salted caramel sauce. Pure delight.
It’s a great place for a big group lunch or after-work dinner and drinks.
I heart Brooklyn Depot!
