Just across from Armadale station Coin Laundry Café are doing brunch and they are doing it well. What used to be an old coin laundry has been transformed into a lovely brunch spot. You can’t do your laundry there anymore but you can get a good cup of coffee and a tasty plate of food.
I loved the cauliflower, halloumi and turmeric fritters. They had a fried crisp outside and were super flavourful. On top of each of the fritters there was a heap of kolrabi, fennel and pickled ginger salad which was crunchy and fresh. That pickled fresh salad is what made this dish unique. A great balance of flavour. There was a smear of smooth avo hummus and a beautifully poached egg.
The Rueben was yummy with shredded corned beef, dill pickle, swiss cheese, sauerkraut, mustard and mayo between two thick slices of toasted bread. It came with a side of lemon and herb shoestring fries which was awesome.
There was no shortage on the shredded corned beef, there was a generous amount.
For dessert we tried one of the specials which was lime, ricotta and coconut hotcakes. They were thick and fluffy, covered in a sweet and tart raspberry compote and topped with maple syrup and a gorgeous whipped orange ricotta. There was fresh berries, coconut and brownie soil scattered around the plate.
Cute little place with big flavours, lots of tasty items on the menu.
I heart Coin Laundry Cafe!
