Before visiting Curry Smuggler I hadn’t really had a goat curry served on a hot sizzling plate before and I absolutely loved it. Our waitress said that’s the way they serve it at home and I think it adds a freshness when it’s piping hot with steam escaping in front of your eyes and the allure of that audible sizzle draws you in.
We started with the daaku di tangri (smuggler’s) drumsticks. It was chicken drumsticks stuffed with spiced lamb mince and topped with a creamy sauce. It was tasty and an interesting dish I hadn’t had before.
The tofu tikka was amazing, It had the charred edges from being cooked in the tandoor and was served on a sizzling plate.
Butter chicken is a bit of a western staple and this was full of flavour. It was creamy and had a good level of spice which made it super tasty. We had a side of saffron rice and roti to eat it with.
The tawa goat was delicious. It was served on a sizzling plate and the meat was really tender and gelatinous, cooked with charred onions and capsicum.
We ended on the gulab jamun which are like little doughnuts doused in a sugar syrup and served warm. Loved it.
I heart Curry Smuggler!
