Darling Street Espresso - Moonee Ponds
Darling Street Espresso – Moonee Ponds
There are lots of cafes with espresso in their name but it only works well when they actually make a mean espresso. This is one of those places. All the locals know about it, tucked away on a little corner of Moonee Ponds, brunch and quality coffee is to be had.
Darling Street Espresso - Split shot
Darling Street Espresso – Split shot
We had the split shot which is an espresso accompanied by a picolo. So basically a hardcore coffee shot aside a milky coffee chaser. It was delicious and it came with a card telling us all the special things about the coffee beans from Kenya. Confirmed, worthy to have espresso in their title.
Darling Street Espresso - Watermelon juice

When the sun is out, some fresh juices are in order, especially when they’re served with pretty flowers.
Darling Street Espresso - Mushroom tart
Darling Street Espresso – Mushroom tart
The mushroom tart had truffle scented mushrooms cooked down with tomato topped with pieces of salty feta and kale dusted poached eggs. There was crunchy polenta chips on top of the tart and beautiful crunchy chick peas scattered around the plate.
Darling Street Espresso - Salmon
Darling Street Espresso – Salmon
The confit salmon melted in your mouth, it was served on a thin potato and preserved lemon waffle. The zing of the lemon and creamy horseradish labne complimented the salmon well. The runny egg yolk was just the icing on the cake.
Darling Street Espresso - Panko Mac n cheese
Darling Street Espresso – Panko Mac n cheese
Of course we had to get a side of panko crumbed mac ’n’ cheese just because. Who could resist?
Darling Street Espresso - Black Forest French toast
Darling Street Espresso – Black Forest French toast
Finally for dessert we had the French toast. Not your normal French toast, no sir, this was Black Forest French toast. It was literally chocolate brioche with freeze dried fruit salad, sweet and tart cherry gel and chocolate meringue. Yum.
