Dexter is all about sourcing quality meats and treating it well and you can see that on the plate when your food arrives. They have a fun and creative menu that will get you drooling. Whether you choose something smoked, bbq’d, cured, fried or slow roasted you just know it’s gonna be delicious.
If you haven’t tried one of Dexter’s meat doughnuts you haven’t lived. It’s a little ball of doughnut with sweet sugar on the outside and hot meat inside. The combination of the savoury mince, fluffy dough and sweetness is heavenly.
This is what that delicious meat doughnut looks like inside. It's so so good. I suggest you order the 3 pack and eat them all to yourself muahaha.
The Kentucky fried cauliflower was delish. The cauliflower was tender and was deep-fried in a crispy, spiced Southern batter. This is the kind of KFC I’m into.
The BBQ’d eggplant had a lovely charred flavour and had a herby chermoula over the top with BBQ sauce.
We tried the crispy fried chicken burger which was tasty. The chicken had a good crunch and the meat was super juicy. It had a creamy slaw, bbq mayo and hot sauce in a toasted charred bun.
The beef rib was full of flavour and super tender. We pulled the meat off the bone effortlessly and it melted in your mouth. It came with an awesome bone marrow mash which had that fatty meat flavour, some house pickles and some charred bread.
We had some slaw on the side for some freshness.
And some spicy chippies.
For dessert we had the rum baba which was like a cakey doughnut soaked in rum and topped with whipped cream. It had a good kick of rum and was delicious.
We ended on the milk and cookies. The choc chip cookies were freshly baked and went perfectly with a glass of cold milk. The dipping of the cookies in the milk naturally occurred.
I heart Dexter!
