Espresso 155 is a cafe in Ascot Vale and aside from pumping out good coffee every day they also have a lovely brunch menu and make some of their sweets in house. When we walked in the shop their homemade vanilla slice caught my eye and let me just say, it did not disappoint.
The coffee was good.
We had the '155 eggs' which was poached eggs, a giant roasted portabello mushroom, roasted tomato, smashed avo and crumbled feta over the top. All on top of a piece of toasted sourdough. A great big brekky and vegetarian friendly also.
The potato and bacon hash waffles were once on the specials menu but have been so popular that they’ve landed themselves a spot on the permanent menu. The waffles are nice and crunchy and the potato is grated like potato hash so it’s got a really nice texture. On top of the waffles were poaches and a spicy hollandaise with a crispy crumb on top and a fresh herby and zingy gremolata to balance out all the richness. Delish.
Lots of the sweets are made in house like the cheesecake, the muffins and the one and only vanilla slice. It tastes homemade like it’s made with love. The custard is divine, the pastry flakes away and the generous layer of icing is all kinds of delicious.
They have a pretty large space and nice little courtyard out back.
I heart espresso 155!
