Grain Store is a great place for brunch in the city. They have a simple approach of using good quality, locally sourced produce that’s been grown and harvested in an environmentally friendly way. When seasonal produce is being used without all those chemicals, you can definitely taste and appreciate the flavours of the ingredients much clearer.
Lots of natural sunlight inside.
They had a scrumptious display of baked goods.
We all had different coffees and were all happy campers.
The portobello mushroom and gruyere potato rosti was awesome. The mushrooms were plump and juicy and the rosti had crispy pan-fried edges with soft cheesy potato inside. The spinach was crisp, the poachies had a lovely runny yolk and were topped with hazelnut hollandaise which was indulgent and rich (yummm). There were some crispy parsnip chips on top for crunch.
This was the same dish with but with some added halloumi, oh yes.
The house smoked salmon on toasted brioche looked so colourful. The salmon flaked apart beautifully and the poached eggs were topped with a buttery dill aioli. There was a salad of radicchio and garden peas to offset the richness of the dish and a bright magenta beetroot aioli around the plate which gave the plate a pop of colour.
I heart Grain Store!
