The Green Man's Arms is a pub serving vegetarian Israeli food in Carlton. It’s not everyday you find a pub with a focus on vegetarian whole foods, sustainability and making whatever they can in-house. They also match the meals with their selection of beer or wine. Vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike will love this place.
I had a kombucha spritz which was awesome.
The Yemeni Lahuh Bread was a pan baked flat bread. The bread was bubbly like a crumpet, light and fluffy like a pancake. It was filled with two falafels, tahini, pickles and parsley. Loved it.
Their house made hummus was delicious with whole chickpeas on top, served with house made pickles, chilli oil and pita bread.
The labne purple salad was all the purple vegetables on one plate. It looked so pretty. It had beets, red cabbage, red onions and almonds on a house made thick creamy labne and pomegranate dressing.
The purple salad was served with a warm Jerusalem bagel
The couscous was fluffy and light with roasted seasonal vegetables and creamy pumpkin puree.
The potatoes were bomb. They were super crunchy and crispy and soft and buttery inside. It was served with the classics, mayo and tomato sauce.
For dessert we had the halva ice-cream and barboosa cake which was kind of like a syrupy semolina cake with espresso cream and fresh berries.
The owners are the most lovely kind hearted people and their care extends to the public through their food. We rolled out of there with big smiles and full bellies.
I heart Green Man's Arms!
