Humble Rays is a great spot for brunch in Carlton. Whether you’re looking for something sweet of savoury you can find it here and if you can’t decide, some dishes even have both sweet and savoury elements combined. Definitely worth visiting, the playful menu is lots of fun.
The décor is mainly white and has a modern feel with lots of bright sunlight coming through.
We had some matcha lattes to start.
The ‘belly dancing’ dish was one of those dishes were sweet and savoury combine forces. I like all the ingredients in the dish but I certainly hadn’t had them all together like this before. It was an epic pancake stack with layers of Nutella and banana (classic combo) and then this is where it gets a bit crazy, it had bacon, seasalt caramel sauce, parmesan, thyme and a sunny side egg on top. It was actually pretty delicious. I liked that i could pull it apart and eat bits and pieces together and have a different bite each time.
The puffle waffle was yum. I love a hong kong egg waffle because they’re fluffy and you can break away the bubbles of waffle. It had Asian inspired flavours, the waffle was matcha flavoured and topped with salted egg custard sauce, coconut ice-cream, peanut praline, black sesame crumbs, sea-salt caramel sauce and shaved white chocolate.
I heart Humble Rays!
