Journeyman has always been a great place to brunch on Chapel street. They have some reigning classics which work well and keep you coming back for more. It’s a narrow space with an industrial feel with exposed brick walls and high exposed ceilings. Super cute. Coffee is great and the meals leave you feeling satisfied.
They do a good coffee. The cappuccino freddo is fun, it’s like a tall iced cappuccino.
Or a green juice. Drinking a green juice makes you feel like you should be tapping yourself on the shoulder for your good beverage choice.
The Persian fetta croquette is delicious it has a crunchy outer and a soft cheesey potato centre kind of like a big hashbrown, with poached eggs, a sweet corn puree, crispy kale and manchengo cheese grated over the top. I could eat a whole bowl of those super crispy kale chips, so good.
Breakfast ramen is a thing and Journeyman is one of the breakfast ramen originals. It’s ramen noodles with a super soft 62 degree egg, bacon, shiitake mushrooms, coriander and spring onions over a bacon dashi. You can smell that smokey bacon flavour from the dashi as soon as it hit the table.
Journeyman eggs benedict had two English muffins with crispy pork belly, maple hollandaise, spinach, housemate bbq sauce and little balls of apple. They flavours all worked swimmingly.
And if you just wanna make a custom brekky with all your faves, that's ok too.
For dessert the toasted waffles were on our radar. We saw them being ordered and we knew we had to have them. They were exactly how a waffles should be, crisp and fluffy. They were served with fresh fruit, blueberry compote, double cream and pure maple syrup. A classic dish done well.
I heart Journeyman!
