Le clec is a great cafe to brunch at in Hawthorn. They have a nice courtyard outback with lots of greenery and the food is super tasty.
The ruby grapefruit cured salmon looked was prettily presented with wakame cucumber, basil mayo, goat curd, smoked pickled beetroot, puffed wild rice, a brioche crisp and a poachie.
The coconut palm sugar beef rib was super tender with a fresh salad with charred corn and nam jim dressing.
The sweet potato rosti which was like a huge hasbrown but instead of normal potato it was made with sweet potato. Great idea. It was sitting on a bed of bright green mint pea puree which went well together. Stacked on top there was a big confit field mushroom, grilled halloumi, a poached egg and porcini crumb. The perfect hangover cure.
I love son in law eggs and I love Benedicts so I knew the son in law benedict was gonna be good. an easy choice. It had two slices of sourdough with soft shredded smokey ham hock, deep fried soft boiled eggs, a sweet and sour tamarind glaze, a creamy buttery hollaindaise and fried shallots. Very indulgent.
The seafood linguine looked amazing with a prawn bisque, parmesan cheese, truffle oil and crispy salmon skin.
We ended on the toasted brioche for dessert and it was fantastic. The soft sweet bread with a tart yuzu curd, soft meringue with crisp meringue pieces, whipped chocolate ganache which was like a rich decadent mousse and then we poured the orange maple over the top. I love the orange tang in the sweet maple it helped balance the flavours.
I heart Le clec!
