Lolo and Wren is a little café in Brunswick West which has the locals coming back again and again. They serve up tasty food with a unique twist and lots of love with some classics you can’t go past.
They do a really nice hot chocolate with mini toasted marshmallows.
The ploughman’s brunch was tasty. Black pudding scotch egg is a different twist on the classic scotch egg and it’s a good one. It was super flavoursome, the crumb was crispy and the egg yolk was still runny. It was served with crispy free range smoked pork belly, a bed of grated cheddar and English ground pickle.
When the crispy croque monsieur came out we had to pick our jaws up off the floor, we were in awe of the mountain of oozing melted cheese. It was a toastie with shaved ham, swiss cheese, cheese & chive cream coated in breadcrumbs and deep fried. Indulgence at its best. Let me just say, if you like cheese, this is probably what you should be ordering.
The pig boss was a soft milk bun filled with Chinese spiced slow cooked Golden Plains pork shoulder topped with crispy Sichuan pork crackling, peanuts, a citrusy slaw, sesame choy sum and sriracha mayo.
For dessert we had the French toast which was light and fluffy with a passionfruit curd, strawberry coulis, fresh citrus fruits and edible flowers. A good way to finish the meal.
I heart Lolo and Wren!
