When you walk into a lord of the fries shop it doesn’t overtly highlight the fact that everything on the menu is vegan. But vegans in the know have been visiting this place for years and getting their fast food fix. They have recently opened a new store on King street so if you’re down that end of the city and are hankering a non-meat fried feast they have you covered.
We tried the trio of mini burgers which was a good starter because we got to try a few different non-meats. We had the classic cheeseburger, the chicken parma and the fish burger. The texture and flavour imitated the meat incredibly, especially the fish fillet. I was impressed.
They had the beyond burgers which are premium plant-based meat patties which have a good amount of protein and have a similar taste and feel to a beef patty.
The hot dog looked just like a hot dog and the flavours were there. We had the Tijuana hot dog so it had Mexican flavours with spicy sauce, jalapenos, vegan grated cheese and onions in a soft bun.
Vegan HSP is something I thought I’d never see, so I had to order it. The fries were loaded with pieces of meat and drizzled with garlic aioli and spicy sauce. It was fabulous.
When it came to the sides we couldn’t decide so we got the mixed munch box which included onion rings, fries and chicken bites. They aren’t called lord of the fries for no reason, they have classic, chunky, shoestring and sweet potato fries and they are all delicious.
I heart Lord of the fries!
