Lounge kitchen have a new lunch menu. Nine items at $9 each. It’s a good way to eat on the cheap when you’re in the city for lunch. They have a goof variety, with vegetarian options too. And cheap doesn’t mean they skimp on all the good stuff, they serve decent sized meals that are totally tasty. Major bang for your buck.
One of the options is penne pasta with beef ragu. The beef is slow cooked in red wine, the meat is super tender and it’s topped with parmesan and basil oil.
The BLT Cheeseburger had one mammoth wagyu beef pattie. It was like a double. It sat amongst the bacon, lettuce and tomato in a soft bun and had a good amount of tomato sauce of course. And like all burgers should, it came with a side of shoestring fries.
The grilled chicken salad was delicious. The big pieces of chicken were moist, the bacon was crispy and the aioli made all of those green lettuce bits taste divine.
The Thai vegan style red curry was full of flavour. It was moreish and had vegies and tofu, served with jasmine rice.
A pot pie is always on the menu but the flavour will depend on the day. We had the creamy chicken pot pie and it was lovely. It had a flakey puff pasty top. It came with a side salad.
Another good vegetarian option is the mushroom risotto. It had a combination of porcini and portobello mushrooms with provolone. Good flavours.
The baby octopus salad was tasty. The baby octopus was chargrilled to perfection, lovely and soft. It was served with a Greek salad and a spicy aioli sauce.
Fish and chips is a crowd favourite. The beer battered flathead was super crunchy and was served with shoestring fries and salad.
The roast duck was my fave. And seemingly the only one I don’t have a photo of. It was devoured within minutes. It was cooked perfectly and had a tasty spiced plum sauce. It was served on a ginger and sesame rice cake that was crunchy on the outside and sticky in the middle. Delish.
All of the meals were tasty and there are lots of different options so it’s easy to cater for all tastes. I was surprised at the servings sizes, they were pretty large. It’s definitely value for your money. A good cheeky cheap eat in the middle of the CBD.
