Everyone knows spaghetti but have you heard of spaghetti gelato? Well you have now. This unique concept was brought down to Melbourne by the kind folk at Madame Spaghetti and it’s the talk of the town. It’s fun to see the gelato pressed out into strands of spaghetti and then topped with a sauce and sprinkled with bits and pieces. It’s something different and it’s totally delicious. You can get your spaghetti on a kick-ass waffle so you probably want to do that too.
We started with the ‘trophy wife’ which was salted caramel gelato with chocolate sauce, gold dusted peanuts and big chunky brownie bits. The flavours were awesome. Even though the gelato is shaped like spaghetti it has a similar texture to regular gelato when it hits your mouth, maybe seems a little bit lighter. The gelato was delicious and the toppings were ace, this was probably my fave.
When I saw the ‘crisp p. bacon’ on the menu, I knew we had to try it. Peanut butter and crispy bacon, yes please! And on a waffle? Double yes please! When we first walked in we could smell that amazing toasted buttery pancake smell which was the waffles being made. The waffle was soft, fluffy and delicious. It was topped with the vanilla spaghetti gelato, drizzled with peanut butter sauce and then a big piece of crispy bacon was placed on top.
Lastly we had the ‘SPF 50+’ which was a coconut gelato with tropical coulis, salted coconut flakes and zesty lemon dust. The gelato had coconut through it so had more of a grainy texture paired with light summery flavours. It’s a good one if you’re trying to trick yourself into thinking it’s not winter or if you feel like something fruity and refreshing.
I heart Madame Spaghetti!
