Masizzim is a Korean restaurant that you can find upstairs in the new foodie area of the Glen. Along with the classics like bibimbap, they make specialty dishes like beef stews and rice balls. The Masizzim brand currently exists overseas but this is their first restaurant in Australia.
All the condiments.
Rice balls. Why in the world haven’t I been eating this my whole life. When I was little my mum used to make me plain rice balls with steamed rice and they were my absolute fave. These ones at masizzim are the same but with added adult flavours like crab meat, nori, pickled veg and caviar. You put on the glove, mix all of the ingredients, and then roll them into balls and eat them. Simple, and hella delicious.
The seafood jeon was nice and crispy. It’s like a Korean savoury pancake with bits of seafood, spring onions, cabbage and carotts scattered throughout. It’s fried and is crisp and comes with a sweet and sour dipping sauce,
The egg roll is made with lots of layers of egg rolled over and over again to create lots of thin layers of egg. We had the cheesy one and it came with some tomato sauce.
Beef stew is one of their specialty dishes at Masizzim. The hot pot arrives to your table and they sit it ontop of a tea candle so it remains hot for the duration of eating it. We had the beef with udon noodles and it was tasty.
The bibimbap came in an iron pot with strips of spicy pork, rice, pickled veg and a soft egg which you mix all together.
The mango bingsu was delightful. It had creamy shaved ice topped with mango, chunks of cheesecake and a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. It was a light and a refreshing way to end our meal.
I heart Masizm!
