The eating options are endless when you're on Victoria street in Richmond but Minh Minh Saigon Soul is one that will keep you coming back. They specialise in traditional Vietnamese food and have a modern style when it comes to presentation. They have wine glasses on the tables for BYO or you can do what I did and get a big fresh coconut fro drink instead. The roof is covered in Vietnamese hats and the walls are covered in Vietnamese photos and artwork which give the restaurant a warm and inviting ambiance.
The steamed prawn dumplings were tasty and served in a ginger, sesame and sweet soy sauce with fresh herbs on top. I think what I love most about Vietnamese food is the abundance of fresh herbs in most dishes.
The quail was cooked in an amazing sauce that was sweet, savoury and sour with fresh lime squeezed on top and crunchy onions, fresh herbs and chilli. Loved this dish.
I love a good bun. We had the vermicelli noodles with beef and spring rolls, cucumber, carrot, spring onions, mint, coriander and that sweet, spicy, sour sauce over the top. They were generous with their toppings and it was delish.
The crazy chicken ribs with tom yum sauce were lightly battered and deep fried and it was quite a large serve. They were tasty and had that spicy tangy tom yum flavour.
We had the steamed barramundi fillet with ginger, garlic, onion and Chinese broccoli. It was beautifully cooked with delicate flavours and fish that melted in your mouth. This was probably my favourite dish. We had a side of coconut rice to eat it with because that ginger sauce was lovely over the rice.
I heart Minh Minh Saigon Soul!
