Miznon take Israeli street food to the next level. They have soft pita pockets filled with delicious things like slow braised lamb ribs, hot tahini chickpeas, ocean trout belly etc. They also have non-pita dishes and amazing sides. They highlight simple ingredients by cooking them perfectly and their famous whole roasted baby cauliflower is tribute to thier simple yet stand-out dishes.
They usually have some Israeli mint tea, bread, dips and pickles which you can grab yourself as a starter while you’re waiting for your meal.
The ‘pita with a bone’ is my fave it has slow cooked lamb rib stew with tahini, pickles, onion and a little bit of chilli. You get the pita and there are literally three rib bones sticking out. The meat is so tender that you can effortlessly pull the bones out and eat the pita with that melt-in-your-mouth lamb inside. Amazing.
A good vegetarian option is the hot chickpeas which you can choose to have in a pita or just on the side. It has creamy tahini, hard-boiled egg, onion and chilli.
The steak and egg pita has a minute steak cooked well (still pink in the middle), a fried egg, sour cream and some fresh tomato, Lebanese cucumber and a long spring onion stalk sticking out of the pita.
The ocean trout belly was cooked perfectly with a crisp outer and the fish falling apart as you bite into it. It came with some creamy elements like sour cream and avocado and was balanced out with some onions and pickles.
If you don’t want carbs you can get the ‘bag of golden meat’ which is beef brisket and onions golden and caramelised.
The side dishes are amazing. Miznon are good at highlighting the flavour of the vegetable with simple touches to elevate their beauty. We had the all famous whole roasted baby cauliflower which was extraordinary. The flavour and texture of the cauliflower was magnificent. It had a roasted outer and was super moist and tender inside. Even the cauliflowers leaves were soft and full of flavour. Loved it.
The sweet potato was roasted whole, seasoned and served with a spoonful of sour cream. Miznon’s side dishes are wonderful because they cook them with care. The sides are simple but cooked to perfection and that’s what takes it to another level.
The bag of beans were zinging with flavour. They were green and white beans lightly coated in a dressing of garlic, zingy lemon and olive oil. They were cooked to perfection soft enough but still had a good crunch.
Israeli street food at it's best. With all the sides please.
I heart Miznon!
