Nostimo is a little burger bar in Elsternwick with a menu of creative burgers that are weird and wonderful. For example, we had migoreng noodles in one of the burgers, our chicken burger had peanut butter and our last burger had a chocolate donut as the bun. They execute the flavours so well that you don’t even realise you’re eating such an unusual combination. These burgers are delicious and heaps of fun.
We started with some halloumi fries. Sticks of halloumi, crumbed and deep fried - obviously awesome. It had a bit of sweet chilli sauce, mayo and spring onions on top.
They have a range of different loaded fries options and we went with the nonna which meant our fries was topped with juicy meatballs in Napoli sauce sprinkled with grated parmesan and spring onions. It was tasty.
And then there was the Nutella fries. Oh hell yes. The ultimate sweet and salty bonanza. I’m the kind of gal that dips her maccas fries into her chocolate sundae so this was right up my alley. The sweet choc hazelnut dip on the salted shoestring fries was genius. This came on top of a cookies and cream shake which was a great combo to accompany the crazy burgers we had.
The first burger we had was the Migoreng burger which had migoreng noodles on top of double beef, double cheese, lettuce and siracha mayo. It was good and had a good amount of spiciness. The noodles in the burger added a really exciting element and it actually tasted awesome together, the textures totally worked.
Next up, the southern PB. This southern chicken burger had a juicy fried chicken fillet, crispy bacon, onion rings, jalepenos, mayo and peanut butter. Yep, peanut butter in a chicken burger, it sounds crazy but it went so well. The flavours balanced perfectly.
Finally, the burger I was super excited to eat, the Chief Wiggum burger. It was a double bacon cheeseburger but the bread bun was replaced with a chocolate iced donut topped with 100’s and 1000’s. Essentially a donut burger. It was different, but good different. The doughnut was soft and sweet and the rest of the burger was classic burger flavours so you don’t feel too confused. It was a sweet and salty delight.
