Osteria Ilaria is serving up delicious modern Italian food and like their first restaurant Tipo 00 (which is next door), people are lining up for this exceptional Italian food. The great thing is that you can make a booking (which is a sigh of relief) and it’s a bigger space. They have a lovely wine menu and source beverages from around the world. There are less pasta dishes on the menu than Tipo 00 but in saying that they still have some impressive pasta dishes. They also have a variety of cheeses, charcuterie and breads. They put quality and care into the food that they produce, and you can taste it.
We had some cheese to start. You can choose your cheeses by 50g portions and it’s served with quince paste and muscatels. Just add a glass of wine and I’m set.
The little porcini mushroom croquette was delicious. Super crunchy on the outside and intense shroom flavour in the centre.
The zucchini flower was filled with Jerusalem artichoke and mizuna. It was a creamy filling and was lightly tempura battered.
The mushroom tortellini with black truffle is only around during truffle season. So if you see it on the menu I suggest you order it. The tortellini sings of mushroom and the thin pasta skin was perfectly aldente. It was served with a mushroom sauce to emphasise that mushroom flavour and was topped with big shavings of black truffle. So good.
The paccheri pasta was delicious too. The tubes of pasta were filled with big chunks of juicy crystal bay prawns and was topped with a Napoli sauce and prawn oil garnished with sorrel. Love.
The olive oil in the chocolate mouse made the texture more silky and smooth. It had a great texture and a lovely bitter dark chocolate streusel crumb.
Delicious modern Italian food in the CBD.
I heart Osteria Ilaria!
