Palermo is an Argentinian Steakhouse in the city. You might notice some similarities from their sister restaurant San Telmo. The décor is classy and has a modern-chic vibe. And what I love is the open kitchen layout where you can see the charcoal flaming and meats roasting over the asado fire pit. It kind of makes your mouth water before you’ve even seen the menu.
They had a really nice strawberry and elderflower gin cocktail but I think this was a special.
This was the suckling pig croquette which was amazing and they do an awesome pisco sour that tastes like lemon meringue pie.
We always start with some empanadas. They are hot little pastries with different fillings This was the spiced minced beef which is awesome with the chimi churri sauce.
This one was a special, it was filled with blue cheese and leek and it was so so good.
The kingfish ceviche was fresh and citrusy with pieces of blood orange, creamy avocado, pickled kohlrabi and mint.
The fried provolone was kind of like saganaki with melted cheese on a hot plate. It had flavours of lemon, oregano, pepper and a touch of chilli.
The baked rigatoni was like a mini pasta bake with Napoli sauce and crispy baked cheese over the top. I liked how the pasta gets crispy around the edges.
Then for the meats. The free range roast chicken was marinated in garlic, lemon and thyme and cooked over the flaming charcoals. The meat was super tender and moist, even the breast of the chicken was amazingly soft. And it had a nice char on the skin.
The Ranger’s Valley premium grain fed skirt steak was tender and easy to eat.
The O’Connor’s premium pasture fed flank steak was a little thicker and was also super tender and had a great flavour.
A side of polenta crusted potatoes were a must, they were crispy on the outside and hot and fluffy in the middle with a creamy aioli over the top.
The leafy greens were nice it had green beans, lettuce and almonds with a subtle dressing. It was nice for some freshness.
For dessert we couldn’t go past the flan with dulce de leche. It was as indulgent as we thought it would be. It was a thick eggy custard which was delicious with a dollop of that milky sweet caramel dulce de leche on top.
I had the Argentian tea with this dessert which was super bitter but I liked it. It went well especially with the sweetness of the flan.
To end we had the Argentinian Alfajor biscuits which are like a shortbread cookie sandwich filled with dulce de leche.
I heart Palermo!
