Porgie & Mr Jones is an awesome place for brunch in Hawthorn. They have lots of good choices and make a fine cup of coffee.
The chicken tacos were delish. Three mini soft tortillas with crispy chicken, slaw, corn, black beans, chipotle mayo and avocado with a wedge of lemon. All the flavours married well and I love a dish where you pick up the food with your hands to eat it.
The salmon and soba was our net dish and it was lovely and fresh. The salmon was cooked well covered in a flavoursome sticky soy glaze. The soba and zucchini noodles were topped with edamame and shaved cucumber and tossed in a ginger, togarashi and miso vinaigrette
For dessert we had the French toast with textures of strawberry. The French toast was soaked in vanilla anglaise which is why it tasted all custardy and amazing. It had white choc mousse, caramalised white chocolate shards (which tasted like caramilk yum!) and all sorts of strawberry – fresh, pureed, dried, dehydrated you name it.
I heart Porgie & Mr Jones!
