If you’re looking for an all American BBQ feast, San Antone by Bludso’s BBQ can provide the goods. They use top quality meats, the family recipes have been passed down through generations and they house a gigantic smoke pit which is where they cook the wonderfully moist and flavoursome meats. We were lucky enough to meet the BBQ king himself, Kevin Bludso. It was such a pleasure to talk food with this bbq genius and with his big heart it’s not hard to see why the food tastes so amazing.
The restaurant is located inside the Crown complex and has a large space with a diner style atmosphere.
For starters we had some nachos and cheesy quesadillas which were lovely. I especially love their beef nachos.
The meat platter from the smoke pit is the main event. And it was full of meaty delights. The chicken was moist and tender with a crispy skin. The meat of the chicken is slightly pink which can worry some people, but this is actually the good kind of pink. The light blush that only comes from cooking for numerous hours in the smoke pit.
If I had to choose a favourite it would be the beef brisket. It was super juicy and the flavour was sensational. The meat was incredibly tender and melted in your mouth. Loved it.
The pulled pork was soft and flavoursome. A lovely addition to the meat platter. It would be so good in a sandwich. Delish.
The ribs were beautifully tender and had a lovely smokey flavour. I’m used to ribs having minimal amounts of meat but that was not the case with these ribs. Each rib had a generous amount of meat. There was hot or mild BBQ sauce to go with them and it was an absolute pleasure to eat. With your hands of course.
The chicken jalapeno sausages were delicious. Loved them. They were moist and had a good hot kick of chilli which is what keeps you wanting more.
There was a range of sides to accompany the meat platter. Mac and cheese, Texan beef chilli, tangy coleslaw and southern greens. They had all of the traditional American sides for the smokey meats.
If you love pecans you will adore the pecan pie. It had an abundance of sweet caramalised pecans.
The banana cream pie was heavenly. It was smooth, creamy and had a sweet roasted banana flavour. An American classic, the perfect way to finish off the meal.
The meals at San Antone are good for sharing. The good food and good company made it feel like a big family feast. Definitely a winner for a tasty BBQ meat feed.
I heart San Antone by Bludso’s BBQ!
