St Zita’s is a quaint little café in Glen Huntly where they serve tasty brunch meals. They have a range of items from bircher to burgers and there are lots of exciting dishes on the new menu. They have black forest French toast. Need i say more.
The atmosphere has a cosy vibe with the old music playing and the homely style décor.
The St Zita’s corn, zucchini and mint fritters had a good crunch, they were light and fluffy on the inside and had pops of fresh corn kernals throughout. When I cut into the poached eggs the yolk dripped down the fritters like a sauce. Delish! It was served with crème fraiche and watercress for freshness and a smashed avo which was mixed with black beans and feta which was a creative twist. Also I was feeling hungry so I opted for the addition of bacon which made this dish even better.
The black forest French toast was delicious. The French toast was soft with a rich dark chocolate cacao sauce, a scoop of smooth cocounut ice cream, morello cherry jam and toasted almond flakes. There were lots of different elements on the plate and when eaten all together the flavours quite obviously screamed black forest. If you love lamingtons or cherry ripe I think this would also be right up your alley. I thought it was cute that they put a cherry on top.
The food is tasty and it’s a nice little spot to have breakfast or lunch.
I heart St Zita’s!
