You don’t have to go to a fancy restaurant to indulge in quality lobster. At Unabara Lobster & Oyster Bar you can get your seafood fix any day of the week, even on your lunch break. They have a restaurant in Melbourne Central (opposite JB hi-fi) and one in the Emporium. We visited the Melbourne Central store because they have a dish (exclusive to Melb Central) on the menu that we just had to try. Lobster ramen, yes you heard right, and yes it’s delicious.
They had lots of different oysters and you could have them fresh or with toppings. We tried the green chilli and the yuzu ponzu. The oysters were fresh and the toppings were a lovely addition.
The Tokyo Lobster Roll was a toasted buttery roll filled with big chunks of lobster, wasabi mayo, avocado and shredded nori on top. This dish came with chips a seafood sauce and salad so you could order just this and make a meal out of it.
We tried two different ramens and they were both super tasty. First up was the ‘deluxe unabara lobster Sapporo miso ramen’ which had grilled Boston lobster, chashu pork belly and a 63 degree poached egg. The ramen noodles had a beautiful bite and chew and was complimented with that punchy seafood and miso broth.
The second ramen we tried was the ‘lobster & seafood Sapporo miso ramen.’ This had half a grilled lobster, a grilled scallop, tiger prawn, 63 degree egg and chashu pork belly. For this one we chose a spicy broth which had an increasing chilli kick that was delicious. The seafood was cooked perfectly, the noodles were tasty and that broth was fantastic. The broth was like a seafood bisque mixed in with a miso ramen broth. Full of flavour.
Especially now that the weather is getting cold, you might need some Lobster ramen to comfort you and give you the warm fuzzies.
I heart Unabara!
