Every last Sunday of the month can now be spent enjoying French champagne, tiers of delicate savoury and sweet canapes, freshly baked scones and pots of tea at the Woolshed, Docklands. It’s a beautiful location for high tea housed upstairs with top to bottom glass windows which allow the sunshine to stream through and a gorgeous view overlooking the harbour.
On arrival you can choose either their signature cocktail (high society – Lillet rose, rogue society gin and lemon – which is amazing or a glass of French bubbles which is also amazing.
We started with the top tier and worked our way down. The savoury menu included French crepes with vanilla and beetroot cured ocean trout, goats cheese and beetroot tarts, mushroom & parmesan vol au vents, milk buns with poached chicken and saffron rouille, and brioche fingers with cucumber and crème fraiche. The whole spread was fresh and made in house.
Then we moved onto the sweets. There was carrot cake with cream cheese icing, lychee & rose macarons, alfajor cookies filled w dulce de leche, hazelnut biscotti, chai chocolate tarts, orange & berry cheesecake and coconut profiteroles.
The coconut profiteroles were my fave.
You can’t have a high tea without scones. At woolshed they had two types; Buttermilk scones and lemonade scones. The buttermilk ones were buttery and crumbly and the lemonade scones were a little lighter. Both were delicious served with their house made jam and clotted cream. There is also an unlimited selection of tea and espresso coffee to accompany those scones.
The Woolshed high tea is a lovely way to spend a Sunday and also a great idea for a hens or special occasion. Or even just to treat yourself or your mum, or your friend. Beautiful setting and a lovely spread.
I heart Woolshed High Tea!
